
Silvana Brizuela Weigel
Born in Buenos Aires, Silvana Brizuela Weigel studied Ballet and performed at the world famous Teatro Colón, Argentina’s Ballet and Opera House, dancing in various Opera and Ballet productions, including Giselle, Carmen, The Nutcracker, Walpurgis Night, Don Quixote, and Tannhäuser. Later, she studied Contemporary Dance at Teatro Municipal General San Martin, learning all the major Contemporary Dance Techniques, as well as Choreography Composition.
While keeping the vast training at the Teatro San Martin, Silvana Brizuela Weigel started learning Tango from world renown masters such as Mingo and Esther Pugliese, Pupi Castello, Natalia Games and Gabriel Angio, Rodolfo Dinzel, Gabriel Missé, Leandro Oliver and Leila Rezk, Lorena Ermocida.
She performed and taught for more than 27 years at various noteworthy venues and festivals in Buenos Aires and the USA, like “Life is Tango” Show at Thalia Theatre in Queens, NY 2003, Boston Tango Festival since 2014, UMass Boston, Harvard University, Boston University, New York International Dance Festival 2024 at City Center, NYC, Queensboro Dance Festival, NY 2024.
Silvana is properly trained and available to teach the original Argentine style of Tango and folk dances like Zamba and Chacarera in both private and group settings. Her teaching style emphasizes on technique, partner connection and improvisation.
Nowadays, Silvana works organizing events, teaching and performing mostly in New York, New Jersey, with the Tango Society of Boston at Dance Union in Somerville, and teaching every Saturday at Cucala Dance Company in Long Island City, Queens, NY.
