Our U-pick season is in full bloom at The Flower Stand, and we’re so excited to invite you back to the field. The appointment calendar is now live—please note that all visits require a reservation. We can’t wait to see you among the blooms!

I’m Ellen Krzemien, the proud owner of our flower haven. In 2006, I formed The Home Staging Source, a pioneering real estate staging company in Western New York. Around the same time, I returned to our century-old family farm, which was bustling with vegetable farming. A bonus to farm life was the ability to grow unique cut flowers in nutrient-rich soil for myself and my staged properties. I would set out buckets of surplus flowers at our roadside vegetable stand – mostly gladiolus, zinnias, and sunflowers. To my delight, they sold out quickly, and orders poured in.

As spring approached, my spring seed ordering became more intentional. I studied floral industry trends, learned what thrived in our farm’s climate, and earned my stripes as a Cornell Cooperative Extension Master Gardener. Meanwhile, a national movement championing AMERICAN-GROWN flowers was gaining momentum.

Requests for flowers for showers and weddings poured in, and that’s when I had an idea: why not open our field to let people pick their own flowers? The response was overwhelming- the field became a place of joy, and we’ve even had eleven proposals! I amended my business certificate to Ellen K Design, allowing me to embrace flower farming while still offering home staging services fully. What started as 200 feet of flowers has now blossomed into 4 acres of U-pick flower fields. This year’s garden boasts over 270 unique varieties from carefully curated seed packs, perennials, tubers and bulbs, including a fragrant lavender field. And from July through October thousands of sunflowers can be found in our slice of heaven.
