Training isn’t one-size-fits-all, so I use various tools like food, slip, prong, martingale collars, Remote collars, Transitional Leashes, and Halti’s, tailoring techniques to suit you and your dog. We’ll reinforce good choices and correct misbehavior. Training requires consistency, practice, and patience, and should be a part of your everyday routine, setting clear expectations for your dog.
Balancing physical and mental stimulation is key. Beyond backyard play, structured daily walks in diverse environments enhance training. Whether it’s leash pulling, jumping, or barking issues, I believe every dog is trainable. We’ll collaborate to discover the most effective approach. My goal is for every family to enjoy a well-mannered dog, both at home and in public.

With 8 years of experience in the field, I am proud to be a member of the International Association of Canine Professionals and the National K-9 Dog Trainers Association. My extensive expertise in dog training is complemented by my certification in Pet First Aid from the American Red Cross and my role as an AKC CGC evaluator. This blend of practical experience and formal training equips me with the skills and knowledge to offer exceptional dog training services.
I live in NJ with my three dogs: Blue, Penny and Walnut. However, my journey started a long time ago.
My animal-focused journey began in childhood, fostered by a family dedicated to adopting various animals. Although always fond of dogs, the idea of dog training as a career blossomed later. After earning a BA in Broadcast Meteorology from SUNY Albany and a stint in TV news, I realized my true calling lay elsewhere.
The transformative experience of attending a training course with my rescues steered me towards dog training. Inspired by the positive changes in my dogs and their commendable behavior, I founded Dogs Unleashed K9 Training 8 years ago. My mission is to enhance the bond between owners and their dogs through effective communication.
My career was greatly shaped by my training at the National K-9 Learning Center in Columbus, Ohio, where I earned certifications in eleven dog training disciplines, from basic obedience to advanced police K-9 training. This rich background fuels my passion for canine behavior and training.
