Olana’s 250 acre landscape is free and open every day from 8 AM to sunset. We encourage you to explore Frederic Church’s designed landscape on five miles of carriage roads. Please note Olana, is a carry-in, carry-out, tobacco-free environment. Dogs are welcome outdoors and must be leashed at all times.
The Hudson River Skywalk: is a scenic walkway that connects major Hudson River School artists Thomas Cole and Frederic Church. The six mile out-and-back pedestrian walkway connects the two national historic landmarks, the Thomas Cole Site and Frederic Church’s Olana, via the Rip Van Winkle Bridge. Offering sweeping views of the Hudson River Valley and the Catskill Mountains, the Skywalk brings visitors into the natural landscapes that inspired Cole and Church’s iconic Hudson River School landscape paintings. The Hudson River Skywalk Region includes the City of Hudson and the Village of Catskill, which both offer historic Main Streets with restaurants, shopping and accommodations.
The Olana Partnership is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to inspire the public by preserving and interpreting Frederic Church’s OLANA, a New York State Historic Site and National Historic Landmark within the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area.
