New Paltz School of Ballet
New Paltz School of Ballet is the leading dance academy of the Hudson Valley.
Founded in 1996 by Peter and Lisa Naumann, NPSB has been serving the community as the premier dance school in the area for decades.
Providing performance opportunities and expert faculty, NPSB leads the way in preparing young dancers for the professional world.
Lisa Chalmers-Naumann – Lisa danced as a soloist with Houston Ballet before joining the New York City Ballet under the directorship of legendary choreographer George Balanchine. She founded New Paltz School of Ballet with her husband Peter in 1996.
Peter Naumann – Peter Naumann danced with the New York City Ballet under the directorship of legendary choreographer George Balanchine and Peter Martins from 1970 until 1996. While there he originated many role in the company’s repertoire. He found New Paltz School of Ballet with his wife Lisa in 1996.
New Paltz Ballet Theatre, our nonprofit affiliate, puts on an annual production of the Nutcracker. This provides students with the opportunity to audition, rehearse, and perform alongside principal guest artists from the New York City Ballet. Performances take place at Bardavon Theater in Poughkeepsie.
