Long Island City Artists
Long Island City Artists, Inc. is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) arts advocacy organization with a mission to increase the development and visibility of professional and emerging artists in Queens, New York.
The organization was founded by artists and incorporated in 1986 in Long Island City. Originally located in a studio/ loft complex above a paper factory, LIC-A began producing art exhibitions and events, originated the Open Studios Annuals in 1985 and has continued since in providing professional development opportunities for artists.
Our members are professional artists from Long Island City as well as elsewhere in Queens. Their art is as diverse & exciting as the borough in which they work.
LIC-A’s programs are enabled largely through the volunteer work of our member artists and supported by grants and donations. Our achievements for more than a quarter of a century as a Queens organization have been extensive. We are committed to broadening our community of artists, and expanding the audience for art produced in Queens through exhibitions, classes, and special projects and events.
We invite you to explore the examples of our members’ works and their personal statements. We welcome you to join LIC-A and share your creative ideas and efforts in building a strong and unique artists’ community.
