Born on September 2, 1971 in Cincinnati, Ohio, Katt Williams was raised in the town of Dayton. Always strong-willed, a teenaged Katt emancipated himself and moved to Florida, where he supported himself as a door-to-door salesman. His first stand-up performance came in his teens, when he thrilled a crowd with a five-minute improv routine.
Encouraged by this early success, Katt honed his unique comedic delivery by performing his routine in clubs nationwide, from Oklahoma to California. By 1999, Katt had become an established comic, appearing on stage at the famous locations of The Improv, The Comedy Club, The Icehouse and The Hollywood Park Casino. Katt made a name for himself by creating a friendship with his audience. Because the audience could relate to his sharp and intelligent take on everything from politics to current events, it wasn’t long before he made the smooth transition to television and movies. His first television guest appearance was on NYPD Blue in 2002, which was quickly followed by roles on The Tracy Morgan Show, Girlfriends, My Wife and Kids, The Boondocks, Cuts and various other television series. He gained notoriety on the MTV improv show Wild n’ Out along side Nick Cannon. Katt contributed his comedic talents and impressed audiences with his quick wit for three seasons on the show. He also graced the stages of Def Comedy Jam, and the 25th Year Def Comedy Jam Reunion.
For Katt, 2002 was filled with many firsts including his debut movie role, which is his most famous role to date, as “Money Mike” in Friday After Next. After his success in Friday After Next, he gave hilarious performances in Rebound (2005), the Epic Movie (2007), Norbit (2007), The Perfect Holiday (2007), First Sunday (2008), Cats and Dogs (2010), Scary Movie 5 (2013), School Dance (2014), Father Figures (2017), Atlanta (2018), and recently reunited with Tracee Ellis Ross on Black-ish (2019). Katt has appeared in several videos and on several albums for major artists including Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, Lil Kim, Ludacris, E-40, DJ Quik, Lil Mo, Paul Wall, Suga Free, and others. He also has his own music projects in the works with features from several major artists. He has several other movie and television projects that are in the works as well.
