Gottscheer Hall
Gottscheer Hall is at once a tavern, community center, and dance hall. The hall was established by immigrants from the German-speaking ethnolinguistic enclave of Gottschee in Austria-Hungary (present-day Slovenia) and remains a beloved spot for authentic German food and drink.
Good Food, Good Cheer, Good Friends! Long-standing tavern in Ridgewood, NY serving domestic & imported beers alongside a small menu of German pub eats.
Come and enjoy good company and meet friends! Choose from our imported and domestic beers, and spirits from around the world. Experience our old-world German cuisine and American specialties while listening to your favorite music. And don’t forget about our flat screen TVs that are always serving up the day’s Soccer, Baseball, Football, and other sports!
Although Gottschee has long ceased to exist geographically, its culture and spirit live on in Queens. In fact, Gottscheerish German is one of the oldest languages alive, and vestiges of it can still be heard at Gottscheer Hall over hearty grub and libations.
