Kevin Keating has devoted his entire 40 year legal career to the practice of criminal law. He began his career in 1986 as a Trial Bureau prosecutor in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. As an Assistant District Attorney, Mr. Keating tried over 50 cases to verdict, securing convictions in a wide variety of felony matters. In 1991, he began his criminal defense practice when he opened the Law Office of Kevin Keating, P.C.

Widely regarded as one of the preeminent trial attorneys in New York, Mr. Keating has tried over 200 cases to verdict, earning numerous complete acquittals in a wide variety of criminal matters in both Federal and State Court.

While it is impossible to list his full range of successful criminal trials, samples include a complete trial acquittal in a public corruption case brought by the United States Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of New York, and recent back to back full acquittals in a 2025 murder trial in a case brought by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and a 2024 rape and assault trial against the Queens County District Attorney’s Office.

Mr. Keating has been lead counsel in numerous trials which have garnered wide-scale media attention. His clientele have included well-known public figures; politicians; lawyers; doctors, and other professionals. Mr. Keating maintains an active Appellate practice and has represented countless clients on appeal in both Federal and State Court. He has the rare distinction of acting as lead counsel at oral argument on behalf of criminal defendants in both the United States Supreme Court, and the New York State Court of Appeals.

Throughout his career, he has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the prestigious Practitioner of the Year award. His considerable Federal Court experience has led to his appointment as Learned Counsel by the Federal Judiciary. He has been the invited lecturer in Continuing Legal Education seminars focused on criminal law issues. And, he currently is a Member of the Board of the Trial Advocacy Institute, where he is a frequent invited guest lecturer.
