Living Willow Farm

Living Willow Farm

Welcome to Living Willow Farm, our heritage farm located in the Appalachian Mountains of Southeast Ohio. It is with great reverence and responsibility that we grow willow, which is a perennial woody plant to use in our art, design, and handicraft.

We offer our willow harvest each year to basket makers, artists, sculptors, DIY, homesteaders, gardeners, florists, interior designers, architects, landscape architects, parks, schools, woodworkers, puppeteers, lantern parades, and weavers.

Demonstrating with managed willow groves the living lifecycle of farming, harvesting, and making a way to bring nature and humans into balance with each other, where one resides.

Dried Willow Rods – Dried willow branches provide the perfect medium for weaving willow baskets, furniture, and wreaths. Simply soak dried willow in water to make the willow pliable again and ready for weaving.

Living Willow Rods – Living Willow Farm offers willow cuttings in a range of sizes to suit a variety of projects. Small willow cuttings are best suited to growing rods for basket weaving, garden borders, and small sculptures. Large willow cuttings are ideal for creating your own living willow landscape features, such as living willow fence, willow domes and structures, living privacy screens, and living willow mazes.

HOWARD PELLER | ARTIST & FARMER

My personal aesthetic has always centered on my passion for objects made by hand, using materials closely tied to the environments in which they are made. This concept of “living and making” allows me to take inspiration from the nature that surrounds me and create products that both sustain me and the environment in which I am working. I am proud to craft, direct, design, and market handcrafted products for the tabletop, gift, and home décor marketplace for over 30 years.

Making products that have living value is my connection to the willow grove. The seasonal rhythms of nurturing the crop pair the sustainability of its harvest with the crafting of objects from it; the traditional hand skills involved with soil and toil are able to resonate in the woven products, which are created from that labor.
