Arbor Day Foundation - We inspire people to plant, nurture, and celebrate trees. The Tree City USA® program provides direction, assistance, attention, and national recognition for urban and community forestry programs in thousands of towns and cities. Tree Campus USA colleges and universities strive to engage their student body as well as their broader community to establish and sustain healthy community forests for the benefit of current and future residents. Volunteers play an important part in tree planting and tree care projects in communities across the United States. They work in partnership with city officials, schools, businesses, and other citizens to transform our urban landscapes. The Trees for America® program is based upon the Arbor Day Foundation's belief that each of us has a responsibility for wise environmental stewardship. Each year the Foundation distributes millions of trees, fosters tree-care education, and works to help reforest thousands of fire-ravaged acres in our National Forests. Saving the world’s rain forests is something everyone can take part in. Since 1992, caring individuals have been making a positive difference in these fragile regions through the Arbor Day Foundation’s Rain Forest Rescue® Program. Thanks to the Foundation’s members and friends, cooperative work with The Nature Conservancy to conserve endangered land in the Maya Forest has been possible.
Life is Beautiful Foundation - As areas in the city mature, neighborhoods require concentrated revitalization efforts in order to maintain a strong New York community. Through the Life is Beautiful Foundation neighborhood revitalization program, we are committed to helping maintain the vitality of our original community by focusing on aesthetic improvements and promoting well-maintained and safe neighborhoods.
Center for Biological Diversity - At the Center for Biological Diversity, we believe that the welfare of human beings is deeply linked to nature — to the existence in our world of a vast diversity of wild animals and plants. Because diversity has intrinsic value, and because its loss impoverishes society, we work to secure a future for all species, great and small, hovering on the brink of extinction. We do so through science, law, and creative media, with a focus on protecting the lands, waters, and climate that species need to survive. We want those who come after us to inherit a world where the wild is still alive.
Natural Resources Defense Fund - NRDC is one of the nation's most effective environmental action organization. We use law, science and the support of 1.2 million members and online activists to protect the planet's wildlife and wild places and to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all living things. NRDC was founded in 1970 by a group of law students and attorneys at the forefront of the environmental movement. NRDC lawyers helped write some of America's bedrock environmental laws. Today, our staff of more than 300 lawyers, scientists and policy experts - a MacArthur "genius" award-winner among them - work out of offices in New York, Washington, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Beijing.
